Central Foam Skids are installed to supply pressurized foam to various foam consumers on an Oil and Gas installation, such as deluge skids, foam monitors, hosereels, hydrants etc.
Deluge Systems are named from the ’deluge’ of water they provide when activated. The most basic Deluge System consists of only 3 parts: Deluge control valve, distribution pipework and Deluge Nozzles.
The firewater system on an offshore platform or other oil and gas installations often has a very high firewater demand supplied by powerful firewater pumps. This means that there is a potential to create situations in the firewater system that can cause damaging surge pressures. Surge pressures can occur for several reasons.
FPE Sontum is supplying a twin fluid / low pressure type of Fine Water Spray system, with a operating nozzle pressure of approx. 5 Barg.
The Nozzle Integrated Helideck System often also called DIFFS (Deck integrated Fire Fighting System) is used to extinguish fires on a Helideck, in both the Helicopter as well as a hydrocarbon pool-fire on the deck.
Dual Agent Units are manually operated units, discharging dry chemical powder and water/foam, intended to be used by trained firefighting personnel.
Firewater monitors are used where it is not practical or desirable for a traditional deluge system with overhead deluge nozzles.
Hose reels can be installed throughout the installation and have a distinct advantage over fire hydrants in that the hose reel nozzle can be opened immediately whereas hydrants require the removal and assembly of hose.
Hydrants are installed in open deck areas, walkways, and escape routes for manual firefighting. Hydrants can also provide heat shielding for protecting personnel while accessing valves during a fire.
